gobble gobble

so i admit, i have been a little slow to post my thanksgiving pictures. im not really sure what happened...
maybe im lazy?
maybe just busy? i mean i did work for a whole 3 hours today.
either way here they are...
this is how i spent to 4 hours of each day for 4 days in a row.
maine to mass
mass to pa
pa to mass
mass to maine
ugh.

this is the house we ate thanksgiving dinner in...

its the summer cottage of a coal broker. it was pretty much amazing.
i believe this dude over the fireplace was the man of the house...

love love love this stove.

this was one of my favorite things in the house...
it was a photo hanging on the wall in the kitchen.

this is the same structure that is in that picture...

the trees that lined the drive way were so old and awesome.

across the street there were old greenhouse buildings.
they were amazingly beautiful.

glenn and i went for a hike in the woods up behind the house...
we found this cool water storage thing. i cant remember what its called.

there were 2 cow skulls sitting at the base of it.

glenn had walked up ahead of me, so he had discovered the skulls before me, he walked back to where i was hiding one of them behind his back...
close your eyes and hold out your hands
i think i am the only girlfriend on the planet that would actually be excited about opening my eyes to a cow skull in my hands.

this waterfall is the reason i had fallen behind glenn on our hike. it was so pretty i took a million pictures of it.

i ♥ moss.

this was our dinner table. it was set for 26 but we had one empty chair since marty wasnt able to come...
pretty much the biggest table i will ever sit at i think.

mmm mmm mmm
everyone was assigned a color vegetable to bring. such a good idea. we had pink mashed potatoes. who knew there were pink potatoes?
not me.

glenns family is pretty much the cutest ever. they danced between dinner and dessert.

glenn and his nana.

glenn being naughty.
and looking a little like jesus.
minus the middle finger thing of course.

glenn and i in the hotel lobby after dinner and before bowling.
who us? drunk? no way.

bowling alleys are perfect for cousins of all ages thanksgiving night.
games
$2
shoe rentals
free
pitchers
$7
amount of fun had by all
priceless

the next morning i needed coffee real bad. glenn and i went out for a walk and tried to find a coffee shop other than the dd across the street.
this place tricked me.
different name.
pretty much the same thing.

real original.

later that day we went to glenns aunts house and had day after thanksgiving sandwiches, checked out the chickens, and went to the playground.
glenns cousin megan likes chickens very much.

picture of glenn and i that i took myself number 624

so ya. thanksgiving was awesome. glenns family is awesome. i was a little hesitant and sad about missing thanksgiving with my own family. i never have. but it was really good. glenn just got home and i want to talk with him instead of being a nerd on the puter.
so um... ya
bye.

loves.

is it time for turkey yet?

one more day of work and then i get 4 days off in a row. so excited. i got ripped off this week and only got one day off and i had a million things to do so it didnt even feel like i got a chance to chill out. we are going to visit glenns family in mass AND pa for the holidays so there is a chance that even with 4 days off it will all go by way to fast and i will still feel like i didnt get a chance to chill out. not really sure why we have to do so much traveling just for dumb old thanksgiving but hey...
the good news is that i only have one more week of work after that and then i get laid off for the winter. yay. im not gonna lie i am pretty darnt (thats right i said darnt) excited about getting laid off. i just hope that unemployment pays me enough money that i dont go completely broke sitting home waiting for it to snow. i have heard that we are going to have a mild winter in terms of temps but that there will still be a lot of snow. great. warmer temps combined with snow equals the worst kind of snow that exists.
heavy. wet. terrible.
cant wait.
ugh.
cant wait to eat mashed potatoes.
and corn.
and pie.
so so hungry.

loves.
ames.

tired astrological ramblings.

yay. its finally my weekend.
i worked almost 50 hours this week. cant wait for that paycheck. beat the hell out of my shin today. im pretty sure its going to be the biggest bruise i have ever had...i might even try to take a picture of it if it gets good. right now its just swollen and a little bruised...
ugh. im so tired... its not even 10pm and i would gladly go to bed.
i was reading my november horoscope a little while ago and i thought this was interesting:
"in mid-october, mars moved into your twelfth house for a long, eight-month stay. as a result, in coming months, you will rediscover the joys of being alone where you can nurture your creativity. you may work on a writing project, or do something with your hands- such as sewing, carpentry or fashion design, calligraphy, gardening, flower arrangement, cooking- or get involved in any other creative project. in coming months, your imagination will take flight and your intuition will be very strong. your greatest satisfaction will occur from what you bring out from within."
i like that. i am about to get laid off for the winter and i was thinking that i would like to try to fill some of my spare time with craft projects...sounds like thats a good idea.
i also really like the last line:
your greatest satisfaction will occur from what you bring out from within

maybe i should get a sled dog?

so i have been in my jammies since approximately 6pm. not just jammies...jammies and my robe. so comfortable. glenns friend is about to come over and i kind of feel like i should change my clothes but ehh.... its almost 930 and i am tired and want to go to bed soon. i have been working like crazy the last couple of weeks. last week i worked 48 hours and today when i punched out i was already up to 38 and i still have tomorrow and saturday to go. tomorrow is going to be bullshit and i think it is a little ridiculous that they are going to make me go. from the sounds of it we are going to be having our big snow meeting, which would be fine but it sounds like they are trying to make a big deal out of it because there are so many guys who are new. well i feel like i should get a get out of jail free card since this will be my fifth winter in a plow truck and i will be in the same truck i was in last year and i even will have the same 3 properties as i had last year. the only difference is that they added one. bfd.
but since i have no choice in the matter i am going to just sit there and collect overtime hours and hang out with my coworkers. some of them are pretty cool. most of them actually.
so on another completely unrelated note.
i have decided that i am ready for a dog.
wicked excited to get a dog.
actually.
i have been looking around online at some shelter dogs and i have been working on making a list of breeds that most interest me.
currently on that list are:
schnauzer/cross of any kind really...
there are 2 really great border collie crosses that need homes
i discovered catahoula leaopard dogs

this is karina. too cute.
um...and maybe something big like a mastiff or a newfie or something.
i pretty much still have no idea. im just kinda sticking my toe in the water. i have been checking out different rescue organizations. its kinda weird actually there are all kinds of different ones and i am a little skeptical of some of them... im thinking that i might stick with the local few that i have already been visiting: animal refuge league, pet haven lane, the one in brunswick mid-coast something...
anyway so ya. im tired.

poop post.

funny story.
a couple of months ago i ate 2 huge bowls of cereal for dinner.
pooped my brains out.
different day even longer ago than that...
ate 2 huge bowls of cereal.
pooped my brains out.
conclusion i came up with?
apparently my guts dont like that much milk all at once.
funny part of the story?
i was just reading an article about poop
and it says:
if the runny poop is diet based, it more than likely means you are living on cereal just about...blah blah blah crap about sugar and fiber
anyway sorry. not sure why that was so funny to me

i am also going to title this something lame.

i am currently listening to explosions in the sky (which someone, i cant remember who, told me to listen to forever and ever ago and i never did and now i am)
i am also loving it.
i am also messaging with my lil sister on facebook.
i am also texting with my dad.
i am also being a really good girlfriend.
i am also going to stop starting my sentances with i am also.
pandora seems to think that i should like iron and wine a lot more than i do. i mean.. i like them. just not as much as pandora thinks i should. if you are reading this and you dont know what pandora is...well...im sorry.
truth be told i am pretty sure i only have 2 readers
1 alison wheeler
2 my aunt sandra
alison wheeler is it strange that thats your name now or are you used to it?
welcome to the back of the alphabet.
i mean im not at the back of the alphabet.
you are.
just sayin.

i am also going to go eat pasta salad.

loves.
ames.

quickie.

so i convinced glenn to go upstairs and offer the neighbors a little trade for their internet password. and ta-da! just like that i am back on the internet. i was looking for some pictures to share but the truth is that i havent been taking any pictures lately so there arent any to share. that makes me a little sad and actually i think i am going to make an effort to take some pictures at work this week. its kind of ridiculous that i am at work the entire time the sun is up. ugh. i hate how short the days get... at least it has been warm. we have been very lucky.
